The AMA, Quest Fellows & next steps
Hi guys 👋! Brent here. I am the co-founder & lead producer to Justin Kan's podcast The Quest.
We were actually planning to launch this newsletter in 2 weeks, and I wasn’t expecting to write something like this. But what happened last week blew both Justin and I away, and we thought it’s worth doing a short recap:
AMA 🗣
The Reddit AMA (booked to launch Quest Fellows) went A LOT better than we expected. Justin’s was the #1 Trending/Hot post on r/IAMA for 2 days in a row. The AMA registered 1.8K comments and went viral. Here’s a link to the whole thing, and also a thread on Atrium learnings which did rounds on social media.

We thought we’d end up with 50 (or worse, 5) applications. Well, it worked out well. Our application portal via VideoAsk almost crashed yesterday (if you have yet to finish your app, use this link instead).
We want to be careful managing expectations: it’s going to take us a long time going through the applications, and things will be scrappy at the start. We are trying to learn as much from Fellows as they would learn from us, and ask for your patience :)
NEW Subreddit ❗️
Reading through the applications felt religious. There are so many inspiring stories that we think deserve to be shared. It also makes me realise that we are all going through life, figuring it out, learning, failing, charting whatever’s on the map next.
Maybe, if we get to talk, a lot of this becomes easier. We shouldn’t be holding these beautiful stories to ourselves anyway. We’ve made a subreddit over the weekend at r/thequestpod, and would love to have you join and introduce yourself in the lounge.
Let’s try this out for a month? We will host episode review threads and source some guest ideas from you all, starting with getting more female trailblazers onto the show. DM me if you have cool ideas we should try out!
