I used to stream on and watch Twitch.

While I think it's a greatly engineered platform that has potential to connect people and create communities that can inspire and encourage positivity, it's mostly a toxic cesspool that’s engineered to addict and suck money out of people while tricking content creators into working for free.

Twitch monetizes on and encourages video game addiction while combining both the cult-like hive mind mentality you see on Reddit and the FOMO you get on Instagram.

From gambling streams to Onlyfans infomercials to people playing LOL for 10 hours a day, there's no way anybody with a string of conscience could take an objective look at what this platform has become and be proud of what they created.

I can see being proud of the feat of building, monetizing, and selling something —but in terms of contributing good to society and making life better for people, I’d be ashamed as hell.

Have you looked into why streamers Ohlana, Reckful, and Etika committed suicide? They all warned about the toxic effects of streaming before they killed themselves.

Twitch is an abomination that needs to be regulated and scaled back to protect the mental health of both its users and creators. But that will never happen since you sold it to literally the most evil company that's ever existed.

And maybe I’m just a nobody whose opinion means nothing, and maybe other social media platforms are worse…

But maybe, just maybe I’m right and you should consider following the lead of people in Silicon Valley like Tristan Harris or Wendy Liu.

Use your expertise to help people free themselves from the grips of Silicon Valley and the parasitical behemoths that have been unleashed on us before it’s too late.
